The Mahindra XUV300 Facelift will be Available in Early 2023, with a 130hp Petrol Engine.

The Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV is attributable to a mid-life update, which we now know will be released in January 2023. Veejay Nakra, CEO of Mahindra's automotive division, confirmed the launch for Q3 FY2022 at a recent event, and here's what you can expect.

The New-Generation 1.2 MStallion Petrol Engine will be Available for the Mahindra XUV300 Facelift.

At Auto Expo 2020, Mahindra's high-tech MStallion line of petrol engines had their static debut in three distinct cubic capacities – 1.2, 1.5, and 2.0 liters. The 2.0-liter engine debuted on the new Thar and has since been used on the XUV700, and now the 1.2-liter engine in the upgraded XUV300 is in the spotlight.

In reality, the XUV300 Sportz was also on display at Auto Expo 2020, ostensibly as a racier variation that would use this new engine, but it was never released. This engine was intended to debut, not in a Mahindra, but beneath the hood of the never-released Ford EcoSport facelift, which would have been the first vehicle of the now-defunct Mahindra-Ford joint venture.

The mStallion engines are cutting-edge, with direct injection and cylinder heads with integrated exhaust manifolds, resulting in increased performance and efficiency. Furthermore, they are built to fulfill future emissions standards, such as those set to take effect in 2023, without the use of a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF).

Despite having the same cubic capacity as the current XUV300 turbo-petrol engine, the new 1.2 mStallion T-GDI engine produces 20hp and 30Nm more, at 130hp and 230Nm. And, while we're on the subject, the current engine – a turbocharged version of the KUV100's 1.2-liter, three-cylinder'mFalcon' MPFI engine – will almost certainly be retained in lower variants of the XUV300 facelift. The 1.5-liter diesel engine is also expected to stay the same.
